Exporting Animal Search Data into Excel on the MQC GMS PRO Hosted Server Product

Please note: GMS does not Export to Excel using "E" button in Animal Search in the MQC GMS PRO Hosted Server Product

Please read below regarding the reason and workaround:

"Excel is not installed on the server as there are licensing considerations - Microsoft insistaa that we manage the licenses as a cloud provider so you cant use an existing license and instead must pay per user. So if your software detects if Excel is installed before giving you the option to save to xls, then it may be preventing you from saving as xls on the server."

To further explain:

On the server, when the "E" button is depressed, the CSV file opens directly in WordPad.  When "P" button is clicked and then the export icon is clicked on the print preview menu, there is an option to export to a file so the client has to choose xls from the pull down menu, name the file, and click ok.  If there are multiple pages in the animal search, then the client has to export each page, naming, choosing xls.

Because there is no option to save the exported data as a file type when the "E" button is depressed, the server, as a default, exports the data into a CSV file.  The file is saved to your server desktop, and you can transfer that file to your local device and then open in Excel or an Excel equivalent on your MAC.

Because there IS an option to save the exported data as a file type using the export icon on the menu in the print preview window and xls is chosen as that export file option, the server complies and saves the data in an Excel reader format that you can transfer to your device and open in Excel or an Excel equivalent for further formatting.

Please note that if you use the export option in the print preview window that you have to export each individual page as an xls file.
