Deer Share (Uploads to Other GMS User Feature in Animal Search)

Important Considerations:

Deer Share allows GMS customers who have the same version of GMS installed share data.  GMS can be updated to this latest version via the Check Online for Updates under System Settings/GMS Utility.
The data that is exported from one GMS installation and imported into another is text only data and does not include pictures.
Deer that are to be exported need to have the DNA number field populated. If it is not populated, the animal will not be picked up by the export process. A temporary DNA number can be assigned by the seller, but that number should be removed after the export occurs and after you import the data.
If clients have deer with the same identification information, duplicates will be created when data is imported into GMS from another GMS client. If lineage information is the same for the exporting and importing databases, the importing GMS client needs to re-link the imported GMS animals to his lineage animals.

To export the animals purchased:
Have USB drive plugged into computer.

Open GMS Pro Breeder package

Open Animal Search and search for deer.

Search for all active deer and then mark (highlight) the deer that have been sold

Click the Export to GMS User button and follow the prompts

The export file is named GMSDATA_[your user name].csv and is located on your desktop for ease of location.
Note: If you run the import more than once, they will all show up as duplicates.

Remove the USB drive by the Safely Remove Hardware process

To import the animals purchased:
Plug the USB drive into your computer

Click the Import GMS Data button located in the GMS Pro Breeder package and follow the prompts

The deer will be imported into your GMS are imported as archived animals so you can search for archived deer, find the newly purchased animals, and make them active by clicking the Date Added box and date and entering a birth date on each one of the animal's herd inventory record.
