Send and Receive Data Between Multiple GMS Installations

For Sending GMS Data to Another GMS Installation:

·         Have  USB  inserted into computer/laptop

·         Choose System Settings from the main GMS Menu

·         Choose GMS Utility

·         Choose the Send Data button under File Transfer Utilities section and follow prompts

·         GMS will back up the data and send it to the USB drive

On Receiving GMS Data to Another GMS Installation:

·         Have USB  inserted into computer/laptop

·         Choose System Settings from the main GMS Menu

·         Choose GMS Utility Button

·         Choose the Receive Data button under File Transfer Utilities section and follow prompts

·         GMS will back up the data first, then transfer the backup file from the  USB drive and then open/restore the data for you

Click the SET PATH button located in the lower portion of the GMS Utility Screen and click OK to restore the default backup path to the restored GMS data.
.
Remember, that you should not be updating multiple installations of GMS simultaneously since the restore data process totally overwrites previous data entered on GMS.

If you are using a USB drive, please remember to click the icon in the lower right-hand corner that reads Safely Remove when you pass your mouse curser over it and follow the prompts to remove the USB drive safely.

  1. This link is also helpful for restoring data from a previous GMS installation when a reinstall of GMS is needed. In addition to using the Receive feature for a data restoration, you can use the Restore feature, as well, since both the Receive and Restore features allow you to browse out to a location where the GMS backups are.

This original post will be edited to include the topic of Restoring Data.
